Badstu ritual
Inspired by Northern European sauna traditions, Badstu is a guided sauna ritual that invites you to slow down, refocus, and reconnect with your senses. Through its signature experience, Bota Bota invites you to embark on an inner journey, lulled by the St. Lawrence River. With your eyes closed, you drift to the rhythm of the waves. You encounter plants and scents native to Quebec and live in harmony with the province’s changing climate.
At Bota Bota, the Badstu ritual is an introspective and always nurturing experience. Each person is invited to enjoy the session at their own pace and to leave the sauna at any time if the heat becomes too intense.
Sessions are offered regularly as part of the water circuit. Whether you’re simply curious, a sauna enthusiast, or looking for a moment to refocus, the Badstu ritual at Bota Bota invites you to discover a new, more mindful, and deeply rejuvenating relationship with heat.
At the end of the sauna ritual, participants head to the cold bath for a full immersion, always accompanied by the guide, who supports them throughout this stage by offering valuable advice and guidance, particularly regarding breathing techniques. Although it is not mandatory, it is recommended to submerge your head underwater for a few seconds to fully enjoy all the benefits.
The thermal shock between the heat of the sauna and the cold water stimulates blood circulation and provides an immediate burst of energy. This stimulus triggers a natural breathing reflex, which encourages the body to relax deeply.
