Sport

The cold, exercising and well-being

Every year in November, we hear the same melody: the sky turns grey, bodies are covered in layers and those who practice an outdoor sport become lesser. Nevertheless, we know that exercise is good for your health and an undeniable source of well-being!

We’ve therefore compiled for you all the advice you need to stay motivated to move and stay in shape.

Our tips for continuing exercise despite the cold

Get the right equipment
It seems obvious, but to stay motivated, it is essential to be well equipped. Invest in clothes that you feel comfortable in. Buy warm clothes and a windbreaker if you want to do outdoor exercise and reflective clothing for the night. Adapt your clothing to the activity, choose clothes that are more or less breathable and flexible depending on your use.

Get into a routine
The aim here is to make exercise a habit and a ritual. Set aside a fixed time during the week to enjoy a sport. Adopt the reflex of giving yourself time to move!

Vary the pleasures with different sports and different workouts
There’s nothing worse than being bored by exercising, it will quickly discourage you! Be curious and innovative, try different workouts. Why not work on your cardio a little more during your next session?

Practice in a group
What could be more motivating than working out with others? No more excuses for sitting on the sofa while your partner waits for you. Find with – or without – your level who will push you to excel.

Sunshine in your ears
Add rhythm to your practice with music. Choose dynamic and rhythmic songs. The sound can help you match your power to the rhythm or simply motivate you.

What sports can you do in cooler weather?

Indoor team sports
As mentioned above, team sports are motivating. There are a multitude of team sports (football, hockey, handball, etc.) that can fit your needs! Staying warm while working on team spirit is priceless.

Swimming
Even if putting on a swimsuit remains a complicated process, swimming will provide you with a sense of well-being and definite benefits. This sport allows you to build up your muscles gently. We promise you a great moment of relaxation.

The gym
We had to mention this option, as you will find a large number of activities there, from weight machines, dance classes, strengthening … Find an example of exercises here.  The gym is still a very appropriate choice when the temperature drops.

Yoga, meditation
We end this little guide with some gentler sports. These disciplines can be practised indoors or outdoors and help you develop self awareness and flexibility. Find out which style of yoga, pilates or meditation suits you best. You’ll end up feeling undeniably relaxed from this gentle break.

And why not come and relax at the Bota Bota after all that effort?
Good luck and happy sweating!
