DIY Nail art

You always wanted to make nail art like the pros? Our manicurists give you 5 tips for an easy do-it-yourself nail art (even better with a friend!)
Start by putting a layer of transparent base on all your nails.

1 – Midnight at Bota Bota – 3-colour gradient
Material : 1 toothpick or hairpin + makeup sponge + cotton swab + nail polish remover

Apply three thick and generous lines of each colour on the sponge (from dark to light: Hugs, Illume, Thunder Road and White Light)
Tap the nail with the sponge (the darker line closer to the base of the nail)
Let dry slightly and repeat the previous two steps until it’s opaque.
During the last application, quickly apply a coat of protective polish before the colours dry. It will strech the colours nicely.
Finish by cleaning the contour of the nail with a cotton swab dipped in nail polish remover.

Spa Ritual nail polish used: Illume, Thunder Road and White Light.

2 – In our garden
Material : 1 cut toothpick.

Apply 2 coats of colour (Poppy) and let dry.
Place a drop of polish in a different colour (Crystal Eyes) on the round end of the toothpick. You can also place some polish on a piece of foil and soak the toothpick in.
Hold the toothpick straight and apply the polish to create five points to form the petals.
Change colour (Looking Glass) and apply one last drop to form the centre of the flower.
If you wish, you can use the other pointed end of the toothpick to draw small lines between the petals with the same colour as the flower’s centre (Looking Glass).
Important: let dry (minimum 10 minutes) before applying the layer of protective varnish.

Spa Ritual nail polish used: Poppy, Crystal Eyes and Looking Glass.

3 – Funky French tip
Material: cotton swab + nail polish remover

Apply 2 dashes of fluorescent polish (Dreamsicle) diagonally on the nail in two layers to form an inverted “V” shape.
Clean the edges of the nail and smooth lines as needed using a cotton swab dipped in nail polish remover.
Finish with a layer of protective varnish.

Spa Ritual nail polish used: Dreamsicle.

4 – Va va vroom

Choose four colours in the same tints or shades (from dark to light: Hugs, Illume, Thunder Road and White light).
Apply the darker color over the entire nail (Hugs).
Let dry then superimpose a narrower band in the middle of the nail with the second colour (Illume).
Repeat with the third colour (Thunder Road) narrowing the band.
Finish with a thin white line in the centre of the nail with the last colour (white light).

Spa Ritual nail polish used: Hugs, Illume, Thunder Road et White Light.

5 – Chain on you
Material: hairpin or cut tooth pick

Apply 2 coats of coloured polish (Hot Blooded).
Place a few drops of white polish (French Tip) on a piece of aluminium foil.
Dip the tip of the hairpin in the varnish (French Tip).
Make a chain of small dots along the nail’s lunula (semicircle/crescent).
Place some glittery varnish (Ha…Ha…) on the foil and select some of the larger glitter pieces to place in the centre of the white dots.
Important: Allow to dry completely before applying the protection layer.

Spa Ritual nail polish used: Hot Blooded, French Tip et Ha…Ha…
