Aufguss Sessions
“Aufguss” is a German word meaning “infusion.” It refers to a sauna ritual that has become popular in Europe, particularly in Germany, Austria, and the Nordic countries, where it is an integral part of the wellness culture.
Much more than just a visit to the sauna, Aufguss is a guided, immersive, sensory experience led by specially trained guides. It combines intense heat, enveloping essential oils, immersive music, and rhythmic towel movements to stimulate all your senses.
At Bota Bota, Aufguss is a caring and harmonious group experience. There is no pressure to perform: everyone is invited to enjoy the session at their own pace.
Sessions are offered regularly as part of the water circuit. Whether you are curious, a sauna enthusiast, or looking for a moment to refocus, Aufguss sessions at Bota Bota invite you to explore a new relationship with heat that is more conscious, more human, and deeply rejuvenating.

CITY SAUNA
(sun deck, on the boat)
Every day, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Aufguss sessions are held once per hour, starting at the top of each hour.
The session begins with an infusion of essential oils. Aromatic snowballs are placed on the hot stones of the sauna. As they melt, they release a fragrant steam that spreads throughout the room.
The aromas have been carefully selected in harmony with the ritual and the moment. Some open the breath and clarify the mind, others awaken energy and bring inner brightness, while others envelop, soothe, and invite grounding.
At the heart of the Aufguss session, the heat rises in three waves of gradually increasing intensity. The sauna guide, through precise and controlled towel movements, directs and amplifies the hot air to envelop each participant.
The heat stimulates blood circulation and promotes muscle relaxation and physical well-being.
Chosen intentionally by the sauna guide, the music makes each session a unique experience. As the true thread of the ritual, it accompanies the choreography of movements, supports the waves of heat, and brings an artistic and immersive dimension.
It enriches the atmosphere and invites a deep sense of letting go, where attention naturally settles on bodily sensations and the present moment.
At the end of the sauna ritual, participants make their way to the cold bath for a full immersion, always accompanied by the sauna guide, who supports them throughout this stage by offering advice and valuable guidance, particularly for managing the breath. Although it is not mandatory, it is recommended to submerge the head for a few seconds in order to fully benefit from all the effects.
The thermal contrast between the heat of the sauna and the cold water activates blood circulation and provides an immediate sensation of energy. This stimulus triggers a natural breathing reflex, inviting the body to relax deeply.
