ANSWERS TO FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION
Q. Is a reservation necessary?
A. We do not take reservations for the water circuit (access to the relaxation areas, whirlpool bath, steam room and saunas). For treatments, we strongly suggest that you book an appointment by contacting us at 514.284.0333, with your credit card in hand. We will do our very best to accommodate last minute appointment requests.
Q. How do I reserve?
A. Our reservation agents can be reached from 9am to 9pm every day of the week at 514.284.0333. You may also book your treatment online in the Online Purchase/Reservation section of our website. Please have your credit card ready.
Q. Does the Bota Bota boat leave port?
A. No. Bota Bota is permanently moored in the Old Port of Montreal. It is not a cruise boat, but rather a ship designed to transport you without moving. As a matter of fact, the engine room was completely gutted and transformed into our locker room!
Q. How is the duration of my visit calculated?
A. The duration of your visit is calculated upon your arrival at the locker room and ends when you exit.
Please note that time spent in the relaxation areas, the water circuit, the exterior terraces, as well as in the restaurant, all calculated in the duration of your visit. We will allow a leeway of 15-20 (give or take) minutes for time spent showering and to change clothing. Our goal is to ensure that you don’t feel rushed.
Q. Is it possible to tour the premises before an actual visit?
A. We cannot allow you to physically visit the site. However, you are invited to virtually visit Bota Bota in the Interactive Gallery section of our website.
Q. Are children permitted onboard?
A. No. Bota Bota is reserved for adults, 18 years and over, due to our alcohol permit.
Q. Is it possible to book a treatment without visiting the water circuit?
A. Yes. This is possible with the exception of Saturday when the water circuit is mandatory. The only full exception to the rule are for manicures and pedicures at Bota Chic, available at any time without the water circuit. In these cases, you will receive a different key bracelet, which will give access to the first deck only.
Q. What is the cancellation policy?
A. We ask that you cancel 48 hours before your appointment; otherwise 50% of the total price will be charged to your credit card. If you fail to show up for your reserved appointment, we will charge 100% of the price to your credit card.
Q. Are there any contraindications for the water circuit and/or massage therapy?
A. Those with heart problems, hypertension, angina and diabetes, as well as pregnant women, should consult their doctor before vsisiting the spa. Pregnant women must have completed their 13th week of pregnancy in order to receive a pernatal massage. A note from your doctor is required.
Q. What should I bring with me to Bota Bota?
A. Access to water circuit includes bathrobe rental, towel and a wrist key for your locker. Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, moisturizer, brushes, hair dryers and flat iron are also available in the locker room. Bring a swimsuit that is made in an appropriate water resistant material, beach sandals and water bottle (preferably a reusable one that can be re-filled at our water fountains). Just like at a hotel, you will be asked for a credit card number upon arrival. Payment will processed at the end of your visit.
Q. Can I bring my own lunch?
A. No. We have a restaurant on board, so food from outside is prohibited. Our extensive menu is sure to suit all tastes and budgets.
Q. Where can I park my car?
A. Bota Bota is easily accessible by public transport, a short 10 minute walk from Victoria Square metro station (Exit St-Jacques) and close to many BIXI stations. If you prefer to get here by car, the Quai Alexandra and Cité Multimédia both house public parking near the Bota Bota. There are also several metered street parking spots in the area for stays of two hours or less. Refer to our Directions page for more details.
Q. What beauty product lines do you use for treatments?
A. Bota Bota has chosen Éminence products, a range that is well known for plant-based ingredients and Babor. This line uses only renewable resources and raw materials from organic agriculture. At Bota Chic, we use the Spa Rituals line and Artistic color gel.
Q. Can I purchase products used during a treatment received on board?
A. Éminence, Babor and Spa Rituals products are on sale at our store which is located near the reception desk. We also sell swimwear and beach sandals.
Q. Is it possible to reserve Bota Bota for a private event?
A. It is possible to do so in certain conditions. For more information, see Group Packages.
Q. What happens if there is a waiting line?
A. No reservations can be made for the water circuit. We welcome guests on a first-come, first-served basis. In periods of high traffic, it may happen that the Bota Bota is at full capacity. In this case, upon your arrival at Bota Bota, we will take your details and we will add you to our waiting list. You can leave the site and enjoy the surroundings, rather than waiting on site. As soon as availabilities are free, we will call you and keep these availabilities for you for about twenty minutes.
